Going South Again

So I'm headed South again. I write this on my last day of internet connectivity in Punta Arenas, Chile, before we get on the ship to head across the Drake Passage. But thanks to technology, I can post via email from the ship; I just won't be able to manage my comment posting, so if you comment, please be patient, and I will take care of those when we get to Palmer Station.

This trip we have 5 days at Palmer, which gives us more time to do our jobs than last time, so I think we will be able to accomplish everything we set out to do. I'm also bringing along a "flat Stacy" doll for a co-worker's niece, and a penguin named Noku for Claire, so keep your eyes on my flickr account for a pictoral diary from these two unlikely co-travellers. Again, those people at flickr really know what they're doing--I can post pictures via email there, too.

I miss my kids, but so far (2 days out) they and Dad seem to be doing well. I hope bath night went well.

Today we have clothing issue and then move on board the vessel. We'll get our assessment up and running, too. And perhaps a good dinner meal tonight before we leave...
